Artist's Comments

Al Capone stayed at Eastern State for about 8 months on a weapons charge.

His cell was ironically a little more "luxurious" than the other cell mates.

One can only imagine what this looked like back in the early 1900's.

Capone died in Alcatraz but it still feels like he's in the hallways here. Don't touch him though, I hear he died of a communicable disease..

I love this, I would so have my room look like that.
You know, except I'd add a few things so I have something to do in there

Yeah right, like I could stay there...

Though then you'd hop in and take pictures of me sleeping or something

Cool.. but I thought Capone died in prison ???

Well my friend, you are correct, I just looked it up "He was released and .. On January 21, 1947, he had an apoplectic stoke that was probably unrelated to his syphilis. He regained consciousness and began to improve until pneumonia set in on January 24. He died the next day from cardiac arrest."
